13 hours
Last night I slept for 13 hours. I can't remember the last time I got 2xs plus the amount of sleep I usually do in one night. We were allowed to leave work at 2 yesterday and I was looking forward to it. I couldn't wait to get home and just vege. I chatted on the phone for a few hours and got up the energy to drag myself to Panera Bread for the evening. This is somewhere I use to go quite a bit but got out of the habit for one reason or another. Surprisingly, I actually had to look up where the closest one was. We have a little place called the Atlanta Bread Company that dominants. The Atlanta Bread Company isn't open as late during the week so doesn't offer much of a draw to me.
So, I gathered my books, journal, computer, stationary and made my way. Par for the last few days I got lost. Well, not lost per say just thought they taken away my street so I turned around and drove back from where I came from to find it. I drove in a couple huge circles, but after 40 minutes I FINALLY found the Panera Bread about 10 miles from the house, which I might add was the direction I was originally going before turning around. Still feeling a little sick I bought a cup of green tea and took advantage of the free refills. It was nice to get out of the house for a bit, and glad I was given the suggestion. I started to feel more on point on the drive back. Being sick just takes it out of you.
Last night, once I got home I continued to work on some goal oriented stuff before I went to bed. I've spoken about wanting to write a book, which I will do, but I also want to present at this conference. It's a pretty BIG deal in my field as this is the first year the two national organizations are merging to form on massive, joint meeting. It's in Orlando which also has many benefits! So I started to read up on what the selection committee is going to be looking for and emailed some work friends and colleagues to find a co presenter. So far I've gotten one response back!
Around midnight my eyes started to get heavy so I called it a night; no alarm, nothing! I was going to sleep until my body decided to wake up. I was going to beat this cold one way or another. A little before 1pm, my phone started to ring, which woke me up (13 hours later). It was a much welcomed phone called and I felt a ton better overall. I made my breakfast (yes, you can eat breakfast at any point in the day), took my meds and blew my nose! Without getting in to too much detail, I knew after that point things were on the mend! My sinuses were clearing out!
Tonight, we're all planning on going together to see some fireworks, which is usually the only thing I like to do on the 4th of July. It's just too cool to see all the bright colors and designs in the sky!
Hope you all have a Happy 4th of July!
