No Frills About It

It's about time I stop JUST talking about it, and put to motion my purpose. This past week I sat down and wrote out the practicality of what I'm calling "THE BIG TEN". I have of ten goals, objectives or projects that I want to work on over the next few months and year. (I'm accountable now, right?) One, being a book I want to write. That's a HUGE project itself, but in doing so I've decided to increase my knowledge base about sexual violence (since that will most likely be the focus). The remaining of The BIG Ten will eventually roll out in the coming months.

So, each Saturday I'll post a new statistic or fact about sexual violence for my audience, YOU. In addition, I'll continue the monthly editorial about a topic as it relates to sexual violence. Many of which, I have a moderate knowledge base, but not enough. What I'll do is a bit of research during the month, (reading about the topic as it relates), highlight pertinent information and add a slice of my opinion. Here's my list so far and feel free to add to it in the comment section:

Eating Disorders/Body Image
Ethinicity/Cultural Background
International/Cross Cultural
Religion
Alcohol
Pornography
Law
Eldery
Men
AIDS/HIV
GLBTQY
Disability
Military
Familial

Goals:
#1 - No Frills About It & Know About It
#2 - Talk About It - The book!

No Frills About It

In the U.S. 383,000 rapes, attempted rapes and sexaul assaults in 1999 - up from 333,000 in 1998. This suggests that incidence of rape is increasing. (U.S. Dept of Justice Nat'l Crime Victimization Survey respondents which involves a survey of randomly selected U.S. households)
