CAUTION. The story below is going to take the wind out of you; if you have a young girl I'd advise not reading this week.

This is a disturbing story that Audrey heard on the news and told me about tonight on the drive home. It was all that I could do not to loose my stomach or break down in to tears. It is taking all my restraint NOT to spout out my anger here, but continuing to use my energy toward education and prevention. It just goes to show that my work may never be done, small as it may seem in this lifetime, but I press on regardless. In addition, I will point out that in the last 2 months I've read several stories of it's kind, I don't have enough time to post them all. Not sure what to do with all this violence, except to Talk About It.

Girl, 2, Dies After Rape by Baysitter.

TAMPA - A 2 ½ -year-old girl died Thursday afternoon, a day after being raped by her babysitter, authorities said.

Eric James Tate, 18, of 14711 N. 30th St., Lutz, is accused of sexually assaulting the girl at about 11 a.m. Wednesday while babysitting at his home. Authorities searched Tate's mobile home and said they found the girl's panties soiled with blood on Tate's bed.

Tate was dating the girl's mother, who brought the tot to St. Joseph's Hospital with severe head injuries Wednesday. Doctors put the girl on a ventilator. The identities of the girl and mother were not released.

At the hospital, the girl suffered vaginal bleeding and was examined for sexual battery, an arrest affidavit states. The exam found there had been penetration and she had suffered genital injuries, the affidavit states.

She also had bruises on her head, ears, back and under her chin, the affidavit states. The girl died as a result of her injuries, the sheriff's office said.

Tate's roommate and friends declined to comment late Thursday.

Tate, who was charged Wednesday with felony capital sexual battery and two misdemeanor drug charges, was held Thursday at Orient Road Jail without bail. The sheriff's office continues to investigate.
