Credits cards, bad

It was about this time last fall, I was fed up with credit card debt. I’d racked up a large balance on a couple different cards and thought transferring the balance to those “low interest on balance transfers” was going to get me out of debt as I kept transferring from card to card. I tried this for a while, before being a participant of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University as of June 2006 and getting my finances on track. I was agitated just enough to make a pretty bold move considering a couple bad financial decisions, which was the result of the debit!

The beginning of last October I took out a small ($5K) interest loan to pay off my credit card balances and committed myself to strapping down and paying that loan off by May 31st 2006. This was about the time I was supposed to start a new job and I wanted a fresh start without this LARGE weight. I wasn't paying rent, had very few expenses and there was really no excuse why I couldn't TKO this loan! I worked out a budget and stuck to it, come May I almost cleared the balance when my job situation changed and I ended up taking this new job in Atlanta. That set me back from paying this off completely (as scheduled) with moving expenses and a lag between paychecks, but I survived the summer, the initial transition and move, having a generoud aunt and uncle who've allowed me to live with them for a bit, and I am proud to say this $5000 small interest loan is paid off! Boo yay!

Here is a picture of me in front of Citifinancial. Say No to Credit Cards!

I hope to snowball one other major headache the end of next month and then start to tackle my students loan while building my savings! Any kudos to this post would be appreciated - this really has been a major WIN in the world of CP's finances!

You go girl! Living a debt free life is the way to go. Getting rid of the added, needless stress is a very smart move on your part. Good for you! Keep up the good work.

Dollface, I'm proud of you as all-get-out for deep-sixing your debt and sticking to the budget. You're gonna win, baby. Dave Ramsey's plan makes a lot of sense and you're doin' a great job! www.debtective.com
